Fold Lab
Fold nets into cubes and punch folded paper, all in your head
About Fold Lab
Two kinds of spatial puzzle take turns. In one you see a flat net of six marked squares and pick which of four cubes it folds into. In the other a sheet of paper is folded, punched and you pick how it looks opened out. After every answer the net really folds up in 3D, or the paper unfolds, so you can see why the answer is right.
What is different about this version
Every wrong option is truly impossible: two faces that should be opposite shown touching, a symbol turned the wrong way, or a mirror image. You can spin the option cubes before you answer, and the solution is shown by folding the real net.
How to play Fold Lab
- For a net, work out which faces end up opposite each other.
- Then check how each symbol is turned where two faces meet.
- For paper, follow each fold and mirror the holes back across it.
- Tap an option and tap again (or press Check) to answer.
- Twelve rounds; the puzzles get harder as you go.
Controls
| Desktop | Click an option or press 1 to 4, then Enter or Space to confirm. Drag a cube, or use the arrow keys, to spin it. Escape pauses. |
|---|---|
| Phone or tablet | Tap an option twice to answer. Drag a cube to spin it. |
| Players | One player. Any other characters on screen are run by the game. |
Strategy
Rule out options first. Two faces that are separated by one square in a straight line on the net can never touch on the cube. After that, the corner where three faces meet has only one correct order around it.
Mistakes that cost you the game
- Forgetting that a mirror image has the right neighbours in the wrong order.
- Mirroring paper holes across only the last fold.
Tips
- Spinning a cube costs nothing, so check every face.
- Each fold doubles the number of holes.
Questions about Fold Lab
Is the spatial estimate a real test result?
No. It is a rough estimate for fun, not a clinical measure.
Does it cost anything?
No. Fold Lab is free to play, runs in your browser, and needs no download, install or account.
