Bowling 3D
Roll a heavy ball down a maple lane and knock down all ten pins
About Bowling 3D
A full game of ten-pin bowling on a long maple lane. Line up on the approach, then swipe up the lane to bowl: the direction of the swipe is your aim, its speed is your power, and a bend at the end puts hook on the ball. The front of the lane is oiled, so the ball skids straight at first and only starts to curve when it reaches the dry back end.
Every pin is simulated on its own. Pins wobble, tip, slide, bounce off the side boards and knock each other down, so a ball into the pocket clears the deck far more often than one straight on the head pin, which can leave a split. Scoring is the real thing: ten frames, strikes and spares carry bonuses, the tenth frame gives bonus balls, and a perfect game is 300. Play the CPU on three levels or take turns with a friend on one device.
What is different about this version
The pins are properly simulated rather than knocked down by a dice roll, and the lane has an oil pattern, so a hook that bites late into the pocket really does strike more often than a straight ball.
How to play Bowling 3D
- Drag the ball left or right to choose where you start on the approach.
- Swipe up the lane to bowl. The faster the swipe, the harder the throw.
- Bend the end of your swipe to the side to hook the ball.
- Aim for the pocket, just beside the head pin, for the best chance of a strike.
- Knock down whatever is left with your second ball for a spare.
- After ten frames the higher score wins.
Controls
| Desktop | Drag the ball to position it and flick the mouse up the lane to bowl. On the keyboard, Left and Right move, Up and Down or A and D aim, Q and E add hook, and holding Space charges the power meter. Escape pauses. |
|---|---|
| Phone or tablet | Drag the ball sideways to position it, then swipe up the lane. Curve the end of the swipe to hook. |
| Players | One or two people on the same device. Nothing here plays over the internet. |
Strategy
Start a little right of centre and hook the ball back left into the pocket between the head pin and the 3 pin.
Mistakes that cost you the game
- Throwing straight at the head pin. It often leaves a split.
- Too much hook at low speed, which sends the ball into the gutter.
Tips
- A strike scores ten plus your next two balls, so strikes in a row add up fast.
- Tap the score strip on a phone to open the full scorecard.
